Trezor.io/Start® | Starting Up Your Device - Tŕezor®

Setting up your Trezor® hardware wallet is a crucial step in securing your cryptocurrency. Whether you’ve purchased a Trezor Model One or a Trezor Model T, the setup process is straightforward. The official onboarding begins at Trezor.io/Start, your secure and trusted gateway to begin using your device.

Step 1: Unbox and Verify

Once you receive your Trezor, unbox it carefully and inspect the packaging. Trezor devices come with holographic security seals to ensure that the product has not been tampered with. If anything appears suspicious, contact Trezor support immediately.

Step 2: Visit Trezor.io/Start

Go to https://trezor.io/start using a secure, malware-free computer. This official page will direct you to the appropriate software for your operating system and device model.

Here, you’ll be prompted to connect your Trezor device to your computer via USB and download Trezor Suite—the official desktop application for managing your Trezor wallet.

Step 3: Install Trezor Suite

Install and launch Trezor Suite. This secure software provides a user-friendly interface to send, receive, and manage crypto assets. Once your device is connected, Trezor Suite will automatically detect it and check if your firmware is up-to-date.

If a firmware update is available, follow the on-screen instructions carefully. Firmware updates often include security enhancements and bug fixes.

Step 4: Create or Recover a Wallet

You’ll now be given two options:

For new users, select “Create new wallet.” Trezor will generate a recovery seed (12 or 24 words) that you must write down and store offline in a secure place. This seed is your backup—never share it or store it digitally.

If you’re recovering an old wallet, enter your seed phrase directly on the device (on the Model T) or securely through your computer.

Step 5: Set PIN & Passphrase (Optional)

For enhanced security, set a PIN code to access your device. You can also enable an optional passphrase, which adds an extra layer of protection by creating a new wallet hidden behind a password.

Your PIN and passphrase are never stored online, and they add a strong layer of protection in case your Trezor device is ever lost or stolen.

Step 6: Start Managing Crypto

After setup is complete, you're ready to send and receive cryptocurrencies. Trezor Suite supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and hundreds of other coins. Transactions are signed securely within your hardware device, keeping your private keys safe at all times.
